Program History
The University of Texas Hockey Team has been competing since 2000 and it has truly become a model student organization recognized as one of the best run sports programs at the University. The Longhorns Ice Hockey program emphasizes academic performance, community leadership and standards of play consistent with the player and eligibility criteria set out by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program stresses the academic and personal development of individual athletes and seeks national recognition through competition with over 350 major collegiate organizations participating within the ACHA.
The team features players from the Texas region and has attracted top players from all over the USA in recent seasons. This past season the team competed against traditional foes such as Texas A & M, Baylor, Tulane and Arkansas as well as northern powerhouses such as Robert Morris University in Chicago.
